IN 1984, Epoch Released the Calico Critters Townhouse in Japan. It is a classic toy that has been around for many, many years. In 2010, it now is one of the hottest and one of the most popular toys for this years Christmas season.

The Critters are designed for kids three years old on up. It will provide hours of imaginative play for any child. Each furry Critter needs to be adopted and given a loving home.

There are bedroom, living room, and kitchen sets available in many choices. A child can just let their imagination go wild and have fun.

The Townhouse comes with light fixtures and they will run on batteries. Two AA batteries will have to be bought to keep the lights on or try rechargeable to have them last longer.
You can also add grass for the outside and a jungle gym or swing set for the yard. Again, there are many options available for imaginative play.

Monster High Dolls Set

In the summer of 2010, Mattel released Monster High Dolls. This is a great item for Halloween, but now is a very hot item for the 2010 Christmas season!
It is for elementary school aged girls ages six years and up. The doll is a teen monster doll, which is based on an old classic horror movie character. The legs and arms bend, there is a diary, doll stand, and their own pet. On the box of each doll, will be the information for that particular doll and her biography.
So far there is six Monster High Dolls:
- Draculaura, daughter of Dracula
- Frankie Stein, daughter of Frankenstein
- Clawdeen Wolf, daughter of the Werewolf
- Laguna Blue, daughter of the Sea Monster
Deuce Gorgon, son of Medusa and Cleo De Nile, daughter of the mummy. These two are sold together as they are dating at Monster High School.
Each doll’s name will go with the classic horror movies we are so familiar with: werewolves, Frankenstein, Dracula, Medusa, mummies, and sea monsters.
Frankie will come with stitches, Clawdeen will have ears and fangs, and Laguna will have fins. The Monster Dolls will also have their own pets. Cleo will have will have a pet snake and Draculaura will have a pet bat for example.
Monster High Dolls are geared for the older kids
Remember this is for older kids, as there are small parts that can cause a choking hazard. Some parts are also removable on the dolls. Why? They are monsters of course! But, even though they are monsters, they still need to be dressed. Along with Monster High Dolls, Mattel is now creating other Monster High stuff like stuffed dolls.

On September 1st, 2010, there was a Monster High book that was released and in September 2011 the sequel will be released. Other books will follow every year. Apparently, just in time for the Halloween season. Mattel will also be releasing more items down the road to go with this.

If your kids love outdoor games, try Hasbro’s Cuponk! For kids and families of all ages starting at nine years and up, it will be released during the 2010 Christmas season. There will be three versions of this game, Cuponk Gorrilanator, Cuponk Let It R.I.P, and Cuponk El Campeon.

How to Cuponk
How the game is played is to toss a ball that is like ping-pong into a cup. All three games are the same object. The Cuponk will light up and make a sound if you get one in. For example, the Gorilla for the Gorrilanator, a crazy wrestler will be the El Campeon, and a zombie sound for the R.I.P.

Toy Story 3 Landfill Play Set

In June 2010, Toy Story 3 was released by Disney-Pixar. Which was another great movie in the Toy Story line, which of course inspired more great toys. This holiday season, one that stands out is the Toy Story 3 Landfill Play Set. This is made by Fischer Price and is part of the imaginative and innovative line of Imaginext toys.
The toy is about the end of the movie. Trapped and in terrible danger at the Tri-Cities Dump, Buzz Lightyear gets rescued by all his friends including Woody. The toys get to find a new home and escape the dump’s incinerator.
Toy Story 3 Landfill Play Set Helps Recreate the Movie!
So, recreating the scene, there are three levels of play in the set. Each level will recreate the main part of the scene from Toy Story. Dumping the toys into a sorter is a large scoop. Then, the sorter puts the toys onto a conveyor belt. The conveyor will move the toys from one level to the next level. The last level is the incinerator. The kids have to move fast to rescue the toys and get them safely moved with the crane.

What then is a Sing? Going by the name of the toy will give you a pretty good idea. It is plush, small, it only stands at seven inches tall, and when you press its tummy it will sing! So much cute fun!!

If you know the game Simon Says, Repeat the Beat is like this old memory game. Rules are very easy to follow. The child needs to repeat the pattern they see exactly. It will get faster and harder each time you get one right.
By completing patterns, this player will build songs with Musicology. Complete five patterns in a row and your song will be completed. It is a puzzle but with music. There will be three difficulty levels.
Your child just needs to wave their hands in the Loopz to choose their own track with using the Free Style DJ.
